With cold and flu season hanging on for dear life, I had to do something to help protect my family’s immune system from the germ invaders that lurk everywhere including the ones my 3 year old invariably brings home. So what better way than a delicious drink the whole family can enjoy while getting a healthy dose of vitamins.
I used grapefruit because of their powerful nutrient combination of fibre, potassium, lycopene, vitamin C and choline in that not only helps to maintain a healthy heart but also….wait for it…..helps ward off colds and flu! I complimented the grapefruit with the anti oxidant bananas and anti inflammatory ginger. Check out the full recipe below.
Immune Boosting Grapefruit and Ginger Juice – Serves 2
- 2 Large Grapefruits
- 1″ of ginger (more to taste)
- 1 banana (for sweeter flavor add additional banana)
- 1/2 cup of Ethical H2O filtered water
- 1 cup of filtered ice
Directions: Use an electric or hand juicer to juice the grapefruits. If using an electric juicer, also juice the ginger. Then transfer liquid to your high-speed blender and add banana, water and ice. If you didn’t previously juice the ginger add it to the blender. Blend all ingredients on high until smooth.
The result is a beautiful pink drink that is every bit tasty and it is filled with healthy goodness.
